Water Environment Federation
The Water Environment Federation (WEF) is the primary student orginization sposoring the Algae Biodiesel Project at Abbott Power Plant. WEF is a not-for-profit association that provides technical education and training for the world's water quality professionals and also supports like-minded organizations such at Water for People and Engineers Without Borders. The Federation was founded in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. in 1928, through a grant from the Chemical Foundation, as the Federation of Sewage Works Associations. The organization's original purpose was to publish the Sewage Works Journal for those in wastewater treatment. Today, WEF materials and services have expanded to meet a wide spectrum of water quality needs. More information regarding WEF's activities can be found at WEF.org

Engineers Without Borders
The Engineers Without Borders (EWB) Biodiesel Initiative is the partner student organization collaborating on the Algae Biodiesel Project. Members of the EWB group are currently collecting waste vegetable oil from the campus cafeterias and converting it into biodiesel. The UIUC Biodiesel Initiative focusesprimarily on lowering the emissions of the university and promoting education of renewable fuel sources. They are striving to ensure that the UIUC Biodiesel Initiative becomes a model for university and community biodiesel production. CABER Illini Renewable Energy Group
The Center for Advanced BioEnergy Research (CABER) works closely with the nine UIUC colleges, multiple disciplinary and professional units and faculty and students to provide a facilitative structure for campus outreach, teaching and research in areas related to bioenergy systems. CABER facilitates the development of cross-disciplinary research and development, education and outreach programs that promote the greater and more efficient use of bio-renewable resources, and, more specifically, support the emergence of advanced bio-fuels and chemicals. CABER focuses on sustainable bioenergy systems, including plant, microbial, downstream processing and economics and policy issues as they relate to bio-based products. Illinois Sustainable Technology Center
The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (ISTC) is a Division of the Institute of Natural Resource Sustainability at the University of Illinois. ISTC is a change agency that performs research, spreads awareness, and facilitates implementation regarding practices, technology and systems that improve sustainability. The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center (formerly the Waste Management and Research Center) has been providing assistance to Illinois businesses and the public since 1985. Services offered include: sophisticated analytical laboratory support, a library and clearinghouse on environmental and pollution prevention issues, technical assistance, and research funding to explore a wide range of issues impacting waste management in Illinois.
