Born and raised in southern Illinois, Kyle Hegger began his undergraduate schooling in Urbana in 2003. He received his Bachelor's of Arts degree in 2006 in Water and Sustainable Development, a self-designed discipline. In that time, Kyle had participated in several international volunteer projects in Guatemala, Kenya, and Nigeria with International Impact and Engineers Without Borders. After graduating, he began working for Professor Eberhard Morgenroth in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering on biological remediation of Army munitions wastes, which included operating a membrane bioreactor for the treatment of perchlorate and RDX. Kyle began graduate school with Professor Lance Schideman in January of 2008 in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering and will obtain a Master's degree in 2010.
